The Art Girl Summer agenda

This week's reminder: creativity is contagious.

If you've been craving more focus, more connection, or simply more time to work on the things that matter to you, The Reach might be exactly what you're looking for.

We meet every Tuesday and Thursday for guided coworking, goal-setting, and the kind of community that helps good ideas grow.

Hi Reader,

I fear a recent coworking call may have kicked off what I’m calling “Art Girl Summer.”

For the last few weeks, one Reach member has been using our coworking sessions to stay accountable to a personal 30-day art challenge.

During the call, another member saw what she was working on and said it made her want to host her own art show.

And something about that interaction stuck with me.

Maybe because so many of us became creative professionals, and somewhere along the way, we stopped making things just for ourselves.

We write, design, market, edit, strategize, film, post, optimize, and create all day long for clients, deadlines, algorithms, and deliverables.

But we rarely get to play or explore or get messy.

As someone who spends most of my workdays writing, I’ve been thinking a lot lately about the difference between creative work and creative practice.

Creative work pays my bills. Creative practice helps me feel like myself.

For me, that’s heels dance.

I danced competitively when I was younger, and getting back into dance as an adult has reminded me how important it is to create things that don’t need to become content, income streams, or personal brands.

Things that can simply exist because they make you feel alive.

So if you want to make this your ‘Art Girl Summer’ too, here’s my unofficial guide to having one:

  • Sign up for the pottery class, watercolor workshop, or dance class you’ve been thinking about
  • Buy the supplies and start before you feel “ready”
  • Take yourself on an artist date
  • Spend one evening a week making something with your hands
  • Visit a local gallery, art show, or maker’s market
  • Make something just because you want to
  • Revisit a creative hobby you loved as a kid
  • Create alongside other people

Sometimes all it takes is seeing someone else create in real time to remember that you can too.

’Til next time!

Big (virtual) hugs,

✨ What’s happening inside The Reach

We wrapped up our June Open House last week! It was so much fun giving people a peek behind the curtain, meeting new faces, and welcoming some of them into the community. 👋🏾
Now we're settling back into our regular rhythm: coworking calls, weekly goals, project updates, and the small moments of encouragement that help make working for yourself feel a little less solitary.

💡What's on my radar

Okay, "loving" might be a strong word since I haven't actually tried these yet. 😂
But two apps that have caught my attention recently are Sublime and Capacities.
Both seem to help you collect ideas, save interesting things, and make connections between seemingly unrelated topics (which feels very Freelance Curious-coded).
If you've used either one, I'd love to hear your thoughts!

👩🏾‍💻 You've got the expertise, the stories, the results, and the ideas.

The challenge is turning them into content that people actually read, understand, and remember.
That's where I come in.
Whether you need website copy, thought leadership, newsletters, impact reports, or a clearer content strategy, I help organizations and experts communicate what matters.
If there’s a project you’ve been meaning to move forward this summer, I’d love to help shape it.
Book an intro call and let’s chat.
