Hi Reader,

So I’ve been putting off filming content for The Reach’s Instagram for weeks now.

They’re not complicated. Just a few short videos. And I already know what I want to say. What’s slowing me down is how it feels to do it.

I feel rusty. I haven’t recorded videos like this in a long time. And I get in my head about it. Am I going to sound dumb? Look awkward? Be cringe?

So instead of just doing it, I “think about it.” Move the task in Asana. Avoid the thing.

I mentioned this to my fiancé at breakfast this morning, half joking about how long it was taking me.

He goes, “Okay. 6:30 pm. We’re filming. No excuses.”

😭

One of the many things I appreciate about him is how quickly he cuts through my overthinking and brings me back to something simple.

I see this all the time with freelancers and business owners, especially with the kind of work that puts you out there a bit.

Posting content. Following up with someone. Sending the pitch. Updating your site.

Things that aren’t objectively hard, but uncomfortable enough to make you hesitate.

So you stay in thinking mode. And before you know it, something that could’ve taken 15 minutes has been sitting on your list for a week.

I’m still working through this in real time, but today’s version of progress looks like this:

At 6:30 pm, I’m filming the videos.

Because I said I would, and it’s time to move it forward.

If something’s been sitting on your list for a while, you probably don’t need more time to think about it.

You might just need to be willing to do it a little imperfectly.

Curious what that thing is for you right now.

’Til next time!

Big (virtual) hugs,

One member told me today’s coworking session was “unbelievably productive,” so I’ll be riding that high for the next 3–5 business days.
Corrie (one of our members) is hosting a marketing workshop next Tuesday → save your spot
We’re also regrouping on the Client Comeback Challenge, but it’s likely kicking off in April.
And I’m running a few small experiments next month with coworking times. Testing 12–2 pm and adding a bi-weekly afternoon session (2–4 pm) to see what sticks.
