Hi Reader,

Right now, I’m in a follow-up season.

I wish I had a sexier name for it, but that’s what it is (lol).

It’s an exciting time. I’ve got consulting proposals out, speaking and sponsorship offers in the works, testimonial requests sent (nervously but bravely).

(Side note: does asking for testimonials give you the same borderline-cringe feeling as when people sing you happy birthday? Just me?)

All these threads can be tricky to keep straight, and figuring out who to nudge and when often feels a little chaotic.

But the other day I realized something: I don’t have to follow up. I get to follow up.

Because if I’m following up, it means something’s in motion. People are noticing and connecting with me, and that’s momentum, baby!

Follow-ups aren’t drudgery. They’re a privilege.

That said, you know I love me some structure. As someone with a terrible memory, here’s how I’m wrangling all these loose threads:

  • Follow-up tasks in Asana so nothing falls through the cracks.
  • Custom templates (some I wrote, some co-written with ChatGPT) for efficient but still personal responses.
  • Quarterly check-ins for leads, clients, and opportunities I want to stay in touch with. Just quick hellos and something useful to share.

Sure, it takes time. But it’s time well spent. The right follow-up can turn a “not right now” into a “let’s do it.” Or a “that was amazing” into “we’ve got more for you.”

So what do you think, Reader? How’s your follow-up game? Could it use a tune-up? Hit reply and let me know.

‘Til next time!

Big (virtual) hugs,
